Final GOALS Night of the 2011 Season!

Hello GOALS families!

Another sign that Summer is winding down....the last night of Giving Opportunities to Athletes who Love Soccer at Sahlen's Stadium. We look forwarding to seeing you tomorrow night as we have some soccer fun!

Some important notes about tomorrow night:

- It's our last night playing soccer in Sahlen's Stadium and with the players from the Rochester Rhinos. Please feel free to invite your family members who have not been out to GOALS before!

- We will be taking RSVP's (more info below) for the end of the season GOALS banquet on Wednesday, August 31st. If you are planning on attending the banquet (and we hope you are!) you need to RSVP.

- Take some great GOALS pictures this year? We'd love to use them for our photo slideshow at the banquet. Pictures burned onto a cd would be a big help! If that doesn't work for you, please consider printing out your favorite GOALS photo of the year and sharing it with us. Thanks for your consideration.

Banquet Information
The Pieters Family Life Center will be hosting the end of the season Giving Opportunities to Athletes who Love Soccer banquet on Wednesday, August 31st from 6 to 8pm. This banquet will include a buffet dinner, awards presentation, and some special surprises. This is the last GOALS activity of the 2011season and we hope you can attend!

Banquet FAQ:

Where is the banquet?
It's at the Pieters Family Life Center located at 1025 Commons Way in Henrietta. For directions, please visit http://www.pietersfamilylifecenter.org/ or call us at 487-3500.

Do I need to RSVP?
YES! We require an RSVP to attend the banquet. This helps us immensely as we order food, set up tables and chairs, and prepare for an awesome night! Please RSVP by emailing Catalina Johnson at cjohnson@pietersfamilylifecenter.org or by signing the RSVP sheet on 8/24.

Can I bring the entire family?
While space and seating is limited, we recognize that families constitute our GOALS team. Our general rule of thumb on this one: if family members came to GOALS nights throughout the season, we welcome them to the banquet. If family members would like to experience GOALS for the first time, we encourage them to attend the last night at Sahlen's Stadium on August 24th.

What does the banquet cost?
There is no charge for the banquet, but we do have a suggested family donation of $20. This donation will help us cover the cost of the banquet (we've added some perks not funded by foundation partners). Cash and checks made payable to "Pieters Family Life Center" are accepted.

What should I wear?
This is a causal event. We encourage GOALS participants to wear their jerseys! There will not be any soccer activities this night, so no need to wear "soccer shoes" or "uniforms'. Be comfortable!

You didn't answer my question!
Woops, sorry. If you have any additional questions please email Catalina Johnson at cjohnson@pietersfamilylifecenter.org or see a Pieters Family Life Center representative (Catalina, Dustin, or Andrew) on 8/24.

Last Chance to Cheer on the Rhinos!
The Rochester Rhinos host the Harrisburg City Islanders in the USL PRO National Division Final Friday, August 26th at 7:30PM in Sahlen’s Stadium.  The Rhinos advanced to the division final with a 4:0 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds last Friday night.  Tyler Rosenlund, Tony Donatelli, Isaac Kissi, and Drew Cost all scored goals for Rochester while keeper Neal Kitson kept a clean sheet.

See you Wednesday!

We're happy to see many friendships are being formed between GOALS teammates. We encourage you to exchange phone numbers or email addresses with other team members. Why not go to a Rhinos game together?
Next Rhinos Home Game
July 22, 8pm
Rochester Rhinos Vs Pittsburgh Riverhounds
It's Christmas in July at this game! First 1000 fans receive a free Rhinos Santa hat.

We saw many GOALS team members dancing to the beat! Special thanks to The Deep Blue Dream for their soulful, funky performance. This is the second year DBD has played at GOALS and we appreciate their ongoing support! Check out DBD's next gig at the North Shore Grill on Conesus Lake on July 30th or at the Park Ave Fest on August 6th!

The Chili FC Boys U11 team of the Rochester District Youth Soccer League did a great job supporting GOALS! Many thanks to Jeff Vieira and team for making July 6th a great night!!

Special Information for July 13th
We have a lot in store for you this Wednesday night!

Some basic information:

1. We welcome back Alfonso Motagalvan, Tyler Rosenlund, Rich Costanzo, JC Banks, and Ryan Kenny of the Rochester Rhinos back to Giving Opportunities to Athletes who Love Soccer. Do you have everyone's autograph?

2. Paradise Catering will be providing us a great summer picnic style dinner with burgers and all the fixin's. Have a favorite picnic food or cookie reciepe? GOALS families are welcome to contribute to the meals pot luck style!

Some fun and exciting new activities added to GOALS this Wednesday:
Ali Cacia of AMC Photography will be joining us to take family portraits and a GOALS team photo! All GOALS team members will have the opportunity to take their offical 2011 GOALS individual player photo (some team members may wish to include their entire family in the photo). These photos will be given to all team members at the GOALS end of the year banquet on August 31st. Be sure to wear your GOALS uniform!

The "Magic" comes to GOALS, the Magic Paintbrush Project that is!

The Magic Paintbrush Project at the Pieters Family Life Center will be faciliating a "Paint with the Players" event at GOALS! The Magic Paintbrush Project is a new family engagement program at the Pieters Family Life Center which creatively captures abilities of special needs individuals and their caregivers with art materials. Click here for more information on the Magic Paintbrush Project at the Pieters Family Life Center. "Paint with the Players" will team up GOALS team members with players from the Rochester Rhinos for a game of "paintball" and a "Shoot Out" while having fun with other soccer themed activities using art materials.

Some things to consider for the Magic Paintbrush Project

This will be a messy, but fun and colorful, event. Please plan on getting paint on yourself and clothes.  Bring your GOALS jersey for your portrait, but a t-shirt to wear during the "Paint with the Players". ALL PAINT IS WASHABLE AND NON-TOXIC.

Although we say that "Life Is...Washable!", we always remind folks that clothes are not stain resistent. Even though we use washable paints and materials, it is suggested that everyone wear clothes that they aren't afraid to get dirty (you too parents!). It is also suggested that you come with a change of clothes to wear home if needed. Also a towel to put on the car seat is not a bad idea!

If you have any questions about the GOALS "Paint with the Players" event, please contact us at info@pietersfamilylifecenter.org. We look forward to seeing you Wednesday! It'll be Magic!

Giving Opportunities to Athletes who Love Soccer

Greetings GOALS families!

We are now officially half way through the 2011 GOALS season. Feedback from all of you has been positive and we are thankful for the suggestions you have offered as to where we can improve. This is a true collaborative effort between the Pieters Family Life Center, the Rochester Rhinos, and YOU! Thank you for your ongoing support.

GOALS night June 22nd
Last Wednesday was another great night for Giving Opportunities to Athletes who Love Soccer! The sun came out just in the nick of time as over 100 players, coaches, and family members took the field.

We were pleased to welcome the head coach of the Rochester Rhinos, Bob Lilley, who had a chance to jump into the soccer action with the kids, teens, and adults of GOALS. We are thankful for Coach Lilley's ongoing support of GOALS! This is Coach Lilley's second year as the Rhinos head coach and was selected as the 2010 USSF Division 2 coach of the year after leading the Rhinos to the USSF Division 2 regular season championship.

We would also like to thank Gates Metros of the Rochester District Youth Soccer League for sharing their passion for soccer with members of the GOALS team! Coach Ernest Fokue of the Metros says, ""Taking part in events like GOALS naturally dovetails with our
mission at Gates International Metros,
namely transcend the boundaries of the soccer field and ultimately
reach and express the fullness
of human potential."

Goooo Rhinoooos!
Many players from the Rochester Rhinos have visited us on GOALS night and shared their passion for soccer with members of the GOALS team. They've cheered us on during our soccer scrimmages and sat and had dinner with us. Now it is time for GOALS to return the favor! The Rhinos have some important home games coming up and they'd love to see the red and white of GOALS uniforms in the stands cheering them on.

The Rochester Rhinos will be hosting the Chicago Fire of the MLS in the third round of the US Open Cup on Tuesday, June 28th at 7:30 pm. This is sure to be a great game and the Rhinos need our support! Pro Passes are valid for this game.

On Friday, July 1st the Rhinos will begin a month of charitable giving to benefit charitable organizations in the community that supports Rochester soccer. On July 1st the Rhinos play the Richmond Kickers and will benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times.
Look forward to seeing you at the games!

Have a fun and safe 4th of July!
